JUDGING GUIDELINES
VINTAGE CAR CLUB OF CANADA SECTION 1 – JUDGING AND JUDGING GUIDELINES – Revised 2019
The vehicle is to be judged for itself. It should make absolutely no difference where, how, or who restored the vehicle. The vehicle must stand entirely on its own merits. The vehicle must be viewed as an object aside from personalities, cash outlay, professional or amateur restoration.
2017 CANADA 150 TOUR
Authored by Del Holbrook
The Vintage Car Club of Canada’s Canada 150 Tour was a tremendous magical success. Ken Hoshowski and his committee put together an interesting and adventurous tour through the center of B. C.
58 cars started in Chilliwack on a sunny June 6th afternoon with a “Meet and Greet” hosted by our Chilliwack Chapter. Registration was handled by Morgan and Linda Borrowman who handed us our useful “goodies” bag and detailed tour book, masterfully written by Ken and Marj Hoshowski. As we snacked on the crackers, cheese and fruit provided we sipped on the delicious wines available, and chatted with our fellow tour participants.
Crusin’ the Okanagan – May Tour 2016
We arrived to a friendly group of organizers who handed out the registration packages and escorted us out to waiting buses to go on a tour for the afternoon.
There were two amazingl venues on our bus tour. Our first stop was the Summerhill Winery, where we ….toured the winery …..
Rally in the Valley – May Tour 2015
On a beautiful spring weekend, May 8 – 11, 2015 Central Fraser Valley Chapter hosted our 57th Annual May Tour. Over 100 vintage and antique vehicles and almost 250 people arrived at the Ag Rec Centre in Abbotsford. They were greeted by a very enthusiastic and energetic team lead by Jack Woolard who joined VCCC in 1970 and Ray Lamb who has been a member for 15 years.
Vancouver Chapter’s Garage Tour 2013
Vancouver Chapter’s West Side Garage Tour took place on Sunday, October 27th. At 10:00AM we met at the Cheshire Cheese Inn at 4548 Dunbar Street for a bit of a brunch. Seen here is Peter Trant shouting instructions for our first checkpoint. And what a checkpoint it was! Peter Trant’s own garage, bursting at the seams with not only vintage cars in various stages of restoration, but also an immaculate Chris-Craft power boat!
Bill Trant’s 1910 Buick Rear End Rebuild
Some of you may remember that during the Vancouver Chapter’s Babe Run in July, 2011 my vehicle suffered a major engine failure when the centre main bearing broke out of the crankcase. Having repaired the engine it was behaving flawlessly and everything was “happy” with my car.
Vancouver Collector Car Show & Auction at the PNE!
Organized by the Dueck AutoGroup and ambitiously called “the largest celebration of the collector car hobby that Vancouver has ever seen,” the inaugural Vancouver Collector Car Show & Auction proved the unmissable event of the summer. It took place at the end of June and was held at a combination of the PNE Fairgrounds, the Forum and the Agrodome, which totalled for over 50,000 sq. ft. of vehicles, exhibits, and entertainment!
Vancouver’s Father’s Day Car Show
Each year the city of North Vancouver organizes an Italian (and French) car show on Father’s Day. It’s been a tradition for quite some time that in recent years has faced some stiff competition from other local Father’s Day car shows like the Dunderave Porsche Show and Ride. Nevertheless, I decided to attend the former, and here’s what I was treated to…
2013 May Tour Kamloops Recap
It was Kamloops, and its beautifully located Thompson Rivers University, that was host to the 2013 May Tour. Those of you that were there will agree that the combination of great friends, incredibly sunny weather, and around 150 of beautifully preserved vintage cars managed to make the Kamloops May Tour simply unforgettable!
A Morgan Story
Vintage. It’s a strong word. It commands respect. To call a car vintage to people who don’t get cars is to associate age. But to car enthusiasts it’s an instant association of “they never made anything like it again.” Take, for example, the 1950s. I like to think of the 50’s as a period in time where the focus of manufacturers didn’t center around design or power, but instead to get a vehicle in every home of every freedom loving American.
Leon Rumpf’s ’25 Buick Restoration
The story behind this McLaughlin Buick started for me in September of 1977 when I was living and working out of the small town of Bassano in southern Alberta. My job allowed me to travel throughout the rural area and encompassed several other small towns in my district. It was on one of my travels that I spotted the car in a deserted old farmstead.
Henry Ford’s Jungle Ghost Town
In 1927, Henry Ford was the richest man in the world. The Brazilian rubber industry was booming as a result of the industrial revolution and rubber prices had begun to rise. As the Ford Motor Company relied heavily on rubber tree plantations the decision was made to break the Brazilian rubber monopoly by building a factory smack in the middle of the Amazon forest.
1910 Buick Engine Rebuild.
This is the story of my 1910 Model 17 Buick engine failure and rebuild project. Last July during the Babe Run my engine experienced a catastrophic failure when, with a loud bang and shudder, the centre main bearing in the engine crankcase broke
Festival Automobile De Mulhouse
During my travels, I happened to be passing through Mulhouse, France on Canada Day. It was the third day of a local city-wide car festival, – the biggest of which was outside the Schlumpf Collection at Cité de l’Automobile. The Schlumpf Collection itself consists of over 520 vehicles, and has the largest collection of Bugattis in the world.

https://vccc.com/classics-with-charm/
There’s a certain charm about driving around in a well-kept, well-restored classic automobile. Sure, the man driving his lime green Lamborghini Gallardo will turn a few heads downtown, but the man in the cherry red ’68 Mustang Fastback is going to have at least 3 people ask him about his car every time he parks it.
A Toyota Rarity: The 2000GT
re you looking to own a vintage car, but would prefer if said vintage car was rare and foreign? Would a car that was featured in a James Bond film make it just that much cooler? Are you willing to sell your home to buy your beloved vintage car? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the car for you certainly has to be a Toyota 2000GT.
